Detailed Itinerary
Expand All +Warmest greetings from Siem Reap - the capital city of Cambodia! Our driver and tour guide will be waiting for your arrival at the airport and accompany you to the hotel in Siem Reap.
Siem Reap is exactly the gateway to the Angkor region - where situated the Angkor Wat in the Angkor Archeological Zone built since the 12th century. Angkor Wat is at the moment the largest monument of the Angkor complex and the best preserved, and of course - an architectural masterpiece.
Angkor Wat has become the most ancient Seventh Wonder of the World - recognized by the UNESCO - and its name literally means “Temple City” in Khmer.
Proceed to the Ta Prohm Temple which has long been a jungle temple and was once the scene for the blockbuster Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. You will be overwhelmed by the fig, banyan and kapok trees spread their gigantic roots over the stones and split the walls and terrace apart.
Another highlight of the tour that we will be heading to in the afternoon is Angkor Thom. Angkor Thom - the “Great Angkor City” - also the last capital of the Khmer Empire. It is used to be a fortified cit enclosing residences of priest, officials of the palace and military, as well as buildings for administering the kingdom.
In addition, the National Temple of Jayavarman, the Bayon Temple and other honorable monuments are found in the center of Angkor Thom for you to learn more about the history of the city and the country.
Head back to the hotel to freshen up for the day.
You will have a whole free day for yourself in the capital city Siem Reap. Grab the map and discover the city in your own way.
Private car will be ready outside the hotel after you have finished your breakfast to hop on the bus and depart for Phnom Penh. The ride lasts 6 hours, arrival is in the afternoon.
Then relax at the hotel for the rest of the day.
Today’s tour is about the reminiscence of the past in Phnom Penh city.
A signature site of the city that cannot be missed is the Royal Palace built by King Norodom in 1866 which owns splendid and gold-gleaming buildings. All of the decorations surround the buildings reflect distinctive features of the Khmer art. Adjacent to the Royal Palace is the Silver Pagoda - an impressively ornate structure that drips with silver and jewels. Inside the pagoda placed a statue of golden Buddha covered with nearly 10 thousand diamonds Gy.
Follow up, the tour continues with another milestone of the history: the regime of the Khmer Rouge. Proceed to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum which serves as the evidences of the all the brutal crimes of the Pol Pot’s security forces. It was originally a secondary school and then was turned into prison and the name was changed to S21.
Thereafter, we will take a ride for about 15 kilometers away from Phnom Penh to the Killing Fields - Choeng Ek - where buries the bodies of the prisoners and victims at Tuol Sleng.
